Up in the Bay

We left Urquaharts Bay on Saturday morning, headed northwestish, unfortunately the wind was from the southeastish, hence it was right up the bum. We had a fairly slow and lumpy sail to start with, then the wind died and we motored until we got passed Tutukaka. Luckily a easterly sea breeze kicked in and we had a broad reach for the few hours, until that died and we motored the last bit into Whangamumu Harbour. We spent the night anchored up and rolling around a bit with the easterly swell that was running. Sunday we motored around Cape Brett and into the Bay of Islands and Urupukapuka Bay.
Our plans were to head to Mangonui, but I came down with a head cold/sinus. So we decided to rest for a few days till I felt better. He is a sweet man.
We stayed at Urupukapuka bay Sunday and Monday night. Yesterday (Monday) my cousin Roger and his wife Jill, arrived in their launch "Serenity J". We rowed over for a cuppa and a chinwag, it was really nice to catch up with them.
This morning we motored around to Russell, as I needed to get drugs from the chemist, we are anchored up in Matauwhi Bay, we have done the shop thing, had chips for lunch, and done a load of washing (by hand I might add). So we are now in rest mode for the afternoon, oh it is a hard life this.

    1. Feeling a lot better now, and yes it can be relaxing, until the wind gets up and it starts blowing off the line :-)
