Osmosis Job

It has been about 3 months since Kabuki's hull was planed to remove the paint, gel coat layer and some of the fibreglass. In that time we have been busy washing the hull a few times with fresh water to aid in the removal of acid that may have been in the fibreglass, servicing our seacocks and installing a new depth sounder interface in the cockpit. This is along with painting the decks, re-varnishing the companionway stairs, tiller, hatchboards and many other small jobs that seem to be a constant. The Electrician has installed the new regulator for the Wind generator and extra solar panel, the wires are installed for the new wind generator but we are waiting till all the dust stops flying before we install it.
Two weeks ago the hull was dry enough for the process of reinstating the hull to begin. So it has been all go with grinding, laying-up fibreglass, filling and fairing. We have been very pleased with the results so far, and over the weekend we re-installed the skin-fittings, hull anode, radio plate and transducer. Topside is a right mess though, with a dust layer over everything, there has been no appreciable rain for about 2 months, good for hull drying, not so good for dust removal.

Laying the new fibreglass mat, and rolling to remove air bubbles. Paul was the side-kick for the guys.

After the glass was applied a layer of resin with filler was slathered on, like a badly iced cake really.

Once the icing was dried/cured the process of sanding it all to smoothness began.

Paul re-instating the skin fittings on the faired and primed patches around the holes.

We are now starting to get ready to move back on board Kabuki in about 4 weeks, we have managed to get a nice Tenant for our house. We are intending to live on Kabuki for a longer period this time, as our house will be let until December. We are looking forward to a new adventure, another twist in our lives.
